Take in the distinctive design of the guitar-shaped hotel at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Fort Lauderdale

Hard Rock International’s proposed guitar-shaped hotel tower at The Mirage has progressed further in its development. On August 16, the Clark County Zoning Commission approved a crucial step in the construction process.

Under Hard Rock’s ownership, following a partnership agreement signed last year, their vision for the resort includes a 600-room, 660-foot-tall structure along Las Vegas Boulevard. According to development records, the guitar-shaped hotel will feature 49,000 square feet of gaming space and 96,000 square feet of retail and dining options. Additionally, the resort will offer amenities such as a pool, spa, fitness center, and salon.

Earlier this year, Hard Rock spokesperson Jennifer Lazovich informed commissioners that the high-rise would be situated in the same location as the existing volcano on the property. She also mentioned the company’s intention to modernize and thematically align the remaining portions of the property with the guitar tower. Their ultimate goal is to transform The Mirage into a Hard Rock-branded resort.

According to a letter from Lazovich, who is a land-use attorney with the law firm Kaempfer Crowell, the proposed skyscraper is designed to resemble two back-to-back guitars with brightly illuminated strings, featuring floor-to-ceiling glass panels.

In December, Hard Rock acquired The Mirage’s operations from MGM Resorts International for over $1 billion in cash. Vici Properties holds the real estate for The Mirage and stipulated in their agreement with Hard Rock that the initial annual fee would amount to $90 million.

Upon announcing their acquisition of The Mirage in late 2021, Hard Rock unveiled plans for a guitar-shaped tower on the property. The company is renowned for its iconic decorative guitars and has previously built a 450-foot-tall guitar-shaped hotel tower in Florida, bearing similarities to the one planned for Las Vegas.

Until the completion of Hard Rock International’s renovation and rebranding efforts, the resort will continue to operate as The Mirage.
